Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, etc. to determine the specifications of the project.
  • Provide technical support for construction planning and design, interpretation of design and application of construction methods.
  • Maintain project cost reports and quantity databases
  • Review and approve project invoices.
  • Monitor project milestones and effectively schedule appropriate employees and contractors, with strong support from the superintendent, for the best quality of work within time and budgetary restrictions.
  • Resolve and document design conflicts and constructability reviews.
  • Contribute to the estimation and bidding phase.
  • Negotiate contracts with external vendors and contractors to reach profitable outcomes.
  • Prepare and track documentation such as RFIs, submittals, subcontracts, change orders, etc.
  • Evaluate progress and provide detailed reports of progress as needed for jobs
  • Communicate project milestones in meetings and as needed.
  • Effectively motivate and supervise the work of in-field managers, subcontractors and laborers to ensure timely project completion.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for owner, superintendent, consultants, contractors and others involved in the project.
  • Support Superintendent with resolving in-field challenges with personnel.
  • Enforcement of health and safety standards and reporting any issues.

Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities

  • Strong background in heavy highway construction with demonstrated capability to take on other generalist projects.
  • In depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles.
  • Familiarity with both quality and health and safety standards.
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude for MS Office and Outlook
  • Familiarity with construction/project management software such as Timberline, Oracale or Primavera
  • Understanding of CPM Scheduling
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

  • Outstanding time-management and organizational skills
  • Must be a team player with leadership abilities
  • Detail Oriented

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; preferably in Construction, Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years in construction with a demonstrated history of increasing responsibility
  • Experience in heavy and highway construction with exposure to MADOT and other areas such as Public and Government Projects
