Description:
- Assist State auditors during sales/use tax audits of [client] and its subsidiaries
- Perform tax research and review contracts in conjunction with tax audits
- Ensure all payments are made timely, all waivers signed and filed as necessary, and all protests and hearing dates are met
- Assist in the implementation of corrective action plans developed during an audit
- Prepare audit protests and work with auditors to ensure minimum tax liability
- Identify potential tax savings opportunities
- Assist in ensuring compliance with internal control procedures
- Develop and implement individual and group training
- Assist in the development and implementation of proactive process improvements
- Work on Special projects
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting
- 6-8 years of demonstrated in-depth Tax or Accounting experience, including at least 4 years of Sales
- Tax and/or Audit experience
- Sales Tax Compliance, Research, and Audit experience in a multi-state tax environment
Minimum Training/Knowledge/Skills Required:
- Knowledge of State and Local Sales/Use Tax laws
- Strong technical and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to perform multiple tasks, monitor progress toward meeting objectives, and adjust plans and actions as necessary
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with all levels of management
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, & Access)
